Since Hendrik requested it, I will show some more Islamic era beads from the same collection as the previous group, only these are more normal, without pendants.

This group of six photographs contains Islamic era beads dating from about 800 to 1200 AD, with a few beads that may be even earlier, pre-Islamic (?). Please enjoy.

The first pic is a large group of black & white folded or swirled glass, containing several different types of beads. They run from about 7 mm for the small ones at the top of the pic to 18 mm in diameter for the larger beads in the middle.

This is another group of mixed bead types with mainly greens, red, and yellow colors. They run from about 8 mm up to 28 mm in diameter for the large bead in the middle, which is actually a pendant bead by the way. He got lost into another group.

This pic contains multiple colored beads of several types and sizes. In the middle of this box is a brown bead with a yellow cats-eye shape. This is the first Islamic era bead that I ever owned. They range in size from about 8 to 18 mm.

In this pic are two smaller sized melon beads with collars and two unusual elongated tringular cross-section beads. These are the only two that I have ever seen of this shape.

This pic contains larger beads, from about 18 to almost 30 mm in size. The shapes and patterns on these are somewhat unusual. The center bead is either in excellent condition, or it is a good reproduction. I have not wanted to look close enough to find out.

This pic contains 9 extra-large beads, including three collared melons, or lobed beads, and a few other interesting shapes. They range from 22 mm for the smallest up to 28 mm for the largest. Beads of this size and these shapes are seldom seen on the market any more.

Please enjoy, and have a happy Saturday,

Jan
